“Ethic, not aesthetic. The building should show how it is made, what it is made of, and who it was made for.”

— paraphrased from the archive’s founding notes, 2014

§ 5 Letters to the archive

No. 001 · received 14.08.2026

I grew up on the eleventh floor of Hallam Terrace. When it came down, this archive was the only place that kept the drawings, the names of the caretakers, and my mother’s interview. Thank you.
— L. Marsh, former resident

No. 002 · received 02.06.2026

We cited the Concrete Archive in our listing application for the Engineering Faculty. The inspector called the dossier “unusually complete”. It was granted.
— Ashbury Modernist Society

No. 003 · received 19.03.2026

No cookie banner. No newsletter pop-up. Just a table of buildings and a link to the data. More websites should be this rude.
— T. Haldane, architectural historian

The archive is free to read, forever. Members pay for the servers, the scanning and the lawyers. Institutions get the printed register.

§ 7 Submit a building

  1. Find it. Check the index first. If it is already there, add sources instead of a new record.
  2. Photograph it. Four elevations, straight on, overcast light. No drones, no filters.
  3. Source it. One document with the architect’s name and a date is the minimum.
  4. Send it. A volunteer reviews every submission within 14 days.
