Nouvelle collection · Céleste

Time, held
in stillness.

A moon phase drawn by hand, a lapis dial and a movement assembled by one watchmaker from first screw to final regulation. Céleste is the quietest thing we have ever made.

Heritage

One family, one hundred and seventy-nine years

  1. 1847

A workshop in the Vallée de Joux

Aurèle Fontaine opens a two-bench atelier above his family’s farmhouse and signs his first pocket watch.

  2. 1892

    The first minute repeater

A chiming complication that sounds the hours, quarters and minutes, ordered by a Viennese collector.

  3. 1931

    Méridienne is born

The house’s first wristwatch, a slim gold case with enamel dial, still made to the original drawings.

  4. 1969

    Calibre AU-2

At 1.98 mm, one of the thinnest hand-wound movements of its day, finished entirely by hand.

  5. 2007

    La Manufacture, Geneva

Every component, from hairspring to case, is now made under one roof on the shores of the lake.

  6. 2026

    Céleste

A new moon-phase calibre marks the house’s 179th year. Fewer than three hundred pieces a year.

Savoir-faire

Finished by hand, where no one will ever look

Every bridge is chamfered with a wooden peg, every screw head mirror-polished, every wheel spoke bevelled under a loupe. Most of this work hides behind the dial. We do it anyway.
