We make a small number of things, slowly, by hand. Each piece is thrown, trimmed and glazed in our studio, and no two are quite the same.

The glaze

Ash from our own stove.

Every winter we keep the ash from the wood burner that heats the studio. Sieved and mixed with feldspar, it becomes the soft, speckled glaze that runs and pools a little differently on every piece.

    Throw

Each piece is thrown on the wheel, then trimmed when leather-hard.

  3. 03

    Glaze

Glazes made in the studio from wood ash, feldspar and iron.

  4. 04

    Fire

Two firings, the last reaching 1280°C over fourteen slow hours.

“We would rather make one good cup than a hundred adequate ones. Everything else follows from that.”
